Who we are and what we believe

The whole Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, our supreme and sufficient authority in all matters of faith, practice, and conduct.

One God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, co-equal and co-eternal, sharing the same divine nature, and equally worthy of our love, worship, trust, and obedience. We also believe in the Incarnation: Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human.

God the Father exists eternally as the Creator of heaven and earth, the sovereign Giver of the Law, and the One to whom all things are subjected. All sinners who come to Him through Jesus Christ are saved from sin and death.

Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily, now intercedes as our great High Priest and Mediator, and will come again in glory.

Fully God, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates the elect, indwells believers, and equips the Church for its mission.

A holy ordinance and memorial of Christ’s death, a feast of thanksgiving in which believers feed upon Christ by faith. The Pastor and Elders oversee any Lord’s Supper conducted at the Church.

The sign of new life in Christ and admission into His body, administered to children, youths, and adults who profess Jesus Christ as Saviour, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, by sprinkling, or by immersion where an adult strongly desires it.

The Pastor, in consultation with the Session, re-admits members of PCFC or of sister churches who consider themselves to have fallen away from the teachings of Christ and desire to be reinstated as active professing members.

The Minister and Session ensure a proper, spiritual, and respectful burial of PCFC’s deceased members, and of other Christians who so desire, officiating funerals of non-members in consultation with the Session.

Marriage is between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24; Mark 10:6 to 9; Matthew 19:4 to 5). Couples complete preparatory counselling before the ceremony; inter-faith marriages between a man and a woman willing to undergo prenuptial counselling are accepted.

Divorce is not God’s will and occurs because of the hardness of men’s hearts (Matthew 19:8). We discourage divorce and aim at reconciliation through biblical teaching, though separation may regretfully be allowed where a relationship is abusive or a life is at risk.
